🌧️ WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Discover the fascinating world of rain sticks — traditional musical instruments associated with Indigenous cultures of South America, particularly Chile. Traditionally made from hollow cactus stems and filled with small pebbles or seeds, rain sticks create a sound that resembles falling rain when turned.

In this hands-on STEAM experience, children will explore the cultural story and science behind the instrument before making and decorating their own rain stick. They’ll discover how the materials and movement inside the tube work together to create its unique sound.

🎶 SESSION FLOW:

• Discover: Learn about rain sticks, their South American origins and how they were traditionally made and used.
• Explore: Investigate the science of sound and discover what happens inside a rain stick when it is turned.
• Make: Build your own rain stick using simple materials and experiment with different fillings to create different sounds.
• Create: Decorate and personalize your instrument before putting it to the test!

🌟 WHAT CHILDREN WILL CREATE:

Their very own working rain stick instrument, designed and decorated by them.

• The cultural story and traditional context of rain sticks

• Basic concepts of sound, vibration and gravity
• How everyday materials can be transformed into a working instrument
• Creative problem-solving through hands-on making.

🌟Important Instructions:

1. Only registered camp participants are permitted inside the studio space.
2. ⁠Parents/guardians are welcome to wait outside; however, waiting space is limited, so we recommend a convenient drop-off and pick-up.
3. Our studio is located within Euro Kids Preschool on the 2nd floor. Please note that there is no elevator access; entry is via stairs only.
4. Please ensure your child arrives 5–10 minutes before event timings for a smooth settling-in process.
5. Kindly send your child with a handkerchief, water bottle and comfortable clothing, as some activities may involve messy art materials and crafts.
6. All materials will be provided by us, and children will take home their creations.
7. If you do not wish for photographs/videos to be shared on social media, please inform our team in advance.

🌟Cancellation & Refund Policy:

1. If you are unable to attend and inform us at least 24 hours before the event start date, we will provide a credit valid for 60 days or allow ticket transfer (subject to eligibility).
2. Cancellations within 24 hours of the event start date, mid-camp withdrawals, or no-shows are non-refundable, as materials and facilitators are planned in advance.
