Let your child discover the magic of the sun through Cyanotype Printing! 🌞In this fascinating hands-on workshop, children will explore Cyanotype β€” an old photographic printing process that uses sunlight to create beautiful blue-and-white images. Known as β€œsun prints,” this technique was first discovered in the 1800s and was even used by early botanists to record plant shapes long before cameras were common! πŸ“ΈπŸŒΏ

Kids will experiment with leaves, shapes, and everyday objects to make one-of-a-kind blue prints on special paper. As the sun works its magic, they’ll watch their designs appear right before their eyes β€” a little bit of art, a little bit of science, and a whole lot of wonder! ✨

This workshop encourages curiosity, creativity, and patience, while helping kids understand how light and chemistry come together to create art. By the end, each child will take home their own mini collection of beautiful sun prints to proudly display.

Session Plan:

Introduction to Cyanotype Printing (15 minutes)

The session will begin with a short introduction to the fascinating world of Cyanotype printing β€” also known as β€œsun printing.” Children will learn how this old photographic technique uses sunlight to create blue-and-white images, about how early scientists and artists used it in the 1800s.

Hands-On Activity – Sun Printing Process (90 minutes)

Children will start experimenting with leaves, flowers, and everyday objects to design their own blueprints. Facilitators will guide them step-by-step, exposing them to sunlight to create magical blue prints.Children will see how the Sunlight develops their images, kids will observe how art and science combine.
